At a special called meeting, the Ware County Elections’ Board voted to implement two major changes for the November General Election.
The board voted unanimously to open a second early in-person voting location for the November 3rd General Election. In addition to the primary early in-person voting location at the Elections’ office on Tebeau St, the second location will be in the new Ware County Administration building at 305 Oak Street. Voters will be able to go to either location to early vote. John Fluker, Chairman of the Elections’ Board, stated that “instead of having four voting machines at the primary location, we will be able to add an additional five or six machines at the administration building location.” he added, “we’re expecting 8,000 citizens to vote early in November and having this second location will shorten the wait time for voters.”

In another important decision that will take effect for the November General Election, the board voted to move the Emerson Park Volunteer Fire Station Precinct to Emerson Park Baptist Church at 1001 Arizona Avenue. The elections’ staff was looking for a larger precinct in the Emerson Park area to accommodate the larger turnout that’s expected for the November election and when Emerson Park Baptist Church offered the use of their social hall as a voting precinct, the board had to jump at the opportunity. Chairman Fluker thanked Pastor Ed Cady of Emerson Park Baptist Church, for opening the doors of his church. He also thanked the Ware County Fire Department for the use of the volunteer station as a voting precinct. “Emerson Park Baptist Church can accommodate up to six voting machines which will enhance the voting experience for the citizens in that precinct, stated Carlos Nelson, Supervisor of Elections. He added, “the poll workers are also excited because the new location will give them what they need to better serve the public.”

The Ware County Elections’ Board is encouraging citizens to vote early by absentee ballot or in-person during the early voting period. In-person early voting for the November 3rd General Election will start October 12 through October 30, 2020.
